About Me

Hi! I'm Vaidas Razgaitis.

I love cooking, climbing, and spending time with people whose eyes light up when they describe their passions. I'm an AI/ML Engineer, with roots in structural engineering and architecture. I work at Higharc, where I focus on computer vision, LLMs, and multi-agent systems with spatial intelligence.

Art

Art has always been a constant in my life. I gravitate towards freehand sketching, micro-drawings, and technical diagrams, where I like to experiment with shading and perspective. Visual art and engineering share a deep common thread: both require precision, spatial reasoning, and an eye for composition.

Architecture

Before discovering artificial intelligence, I was captivated by high-profile architecture. I started my career as a structural engineer at ARUP, where I worked with international teams delivering soaring skyscrapers and airport megaprojects in Mexico City, Singapore, and New York City. I also taught high-rise design as an Adjunct Professor at Pratt Institute's School of Architecture.

At Nordic Structures in Montreal, I managed the design and delivery of novel engineered timber buildings. I love architecture, but my experience as a designer left me disillusioned by the stagnation of the AEC industry. I started writing automation software out of frustration with repetitive tasks, which eventually led to a scholarship in computer science at the University of Chicago. That pulled me into the world of machine learning and generative AI, and I've been hooked ever since.

Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is my favorite way to connect with the great outdoors. Some of my most vivid memories come from traveling with friends in search of inspiring routes — deep water soloing in Croatia, scaling limestone cathedrals in El Potrero Chico, and squeezing through mid-mountain chimneys in Red Rock Canyon.

Music

The electric guitar has always held a special place in my heart. Like a painter blending colors, I love to mix pedals, amps, and effects to shape new sounds. After a year of self-taught playing, I started to feel boxed in by my gear. At 14, I decided to build and solder my own electric guitar. I painted it to exactly match Eddie Van Halen's black-and-white Frankenstrat, before it got the famous red coat of paint.

I learned so much from this formative experience - you don't need to wait till you have the skills to start, you learn most by doing (there's no substitute for that), and most importantly — that you can just do things.

Ethnicity

I'm Lithuanian-American. I grew up between two cultures and speak Lithuanian fluently. The Baltic perspective — stoic, resourceful, quietly stubborn — shapes how I approach my work and life. I speak French at a working proficiency, after living in Montreal for two years (taaaa..bar-naac! )
